The Real Shawn Evidence
I’m sure you all are aware as to what has been going on with me the past few days and what should have been a great Thanksgiving break with family has been anything but wonderful. After a lot of deep thinking about the matter, I decided that rather than have people spread incorrect information about me, I will tell you myself who the real Shawn Evidence is and why I use a pen name.
My real first name is Sanh and I was born in a small country called Laos, right next to Thailand. I lived in refugee camps in Thailand and the Philippines until my family was given the great opportunity to come to the United States when I was around 7 years old. That was many years ago, but one thing I have always loved about the United States is that anybody can become a somebody with hard work and determination.
This determination is what led me to create the Bigfoot Evidence blog a few years ago. My wife had lost her job and was unable to find a new one. We also had 3 young kids to support and once her unemployment ran out we were flat poor. We lost our house and things got so bad at one point that we were living in a “house” that was actually a 450 sq foot machine shop on a farm. It had no kitchen, no heater, and no bathroom, but it was free. My wife slept on the sofa, I slept on the loveseat, and our two youngest had to share a bed so that their sister could get a good night sleep for school on her own bed. It was after one of the many nights of watching my kids slogging through the cold mud and rain just to use the bathroom that I promised to find some way to take better care of my family. That was the point that I knew I had to do whatever it took to give my family a good home.
During this period, I tried everything to bring in some extra money for my family. I fixed peoples computers for $50 and I created websites for businesses for $100. I even created a groundbreaking MMORPG game for Facebook with my friend called “Blazing Plunder”, but none of these brought in enough money to move us out of that shack. That’s when I decided to try and make this blog work. Everything about the subject of Bigfoot fascinated me and I knew that I could create a unique place for all Bigfoot and non-bigfoot people to come to see what was going on in the world of Bigfoot. At the same time, I felt I needed to use a pen name to protect my family. I am a husband and most importantly a father, and the last thing I wanted is for my wife and children to be exposed to some of the negative characters within the community. I wanted to prevent my home address from being made public for anyone to use however they pleased. You never know what someone may do with that information, which is why I worked so hard to keep it under wraps all this time.
Over time, this blog became more successful than I could have ever hoped for. I have tried my hardest to remain on friendly terms with everybody and try to give everybody a voice on this blog, but I couldn’t please everybody. Most people who don’t like me just ignore me, but some people felt the need to try and push me around since they didn’t like my content. Since I wouldn’t bend to their demands, they lashed back at me and they seem to think that exposing me or spreading rumors about me will be the best way to get back at me. Though I have had fun wearing hats and sunglasses on podcasts and having people hide my face in pictures , I decided that it was time to stop being anonymous.
Well, now you know about me, how this blog came to be, and why I try to keep a low profile. I felt I owed you all the full story because if it weren’t for you guys, I would still be living in that little shack with my family. It’s because of you, my loyal readers and friends, that I was able to move my family into a little apartment with a kitchen, a heater, and yes, a bathroom all under the same roof. Thank you all so much for sticking with me all this time and I look forward to being your go-to source for anything Bigfoot related in the future. As for my name, you can keep calling me Shawn, I’ve grown really fond of it…

Hey Shawn, Nadia and everyone else getting all of this disgusting, hate directed their way - experts figure that about ten percent of the population are certifiable psychopaths. Psychopaths all around us. Fully functioning, contributing members of society, often in positions of leadership but also just the regular shmo next door. No matter what we do to avoid it these people are there waiting like vampires for a chance to suck your life force from us. The best thing you can do is not feed them, just ignore them. You certainly can't change them. It's genetic. Not even considered a mental illness.

There are definitely people trying too hard to become relevant in the bigfoot community. Not that they aren't valuable contibuters but sometimes they are flooding us with too much content. Quality not quantity folks. Take a look at what Ro is doing for pointers. But Bigfoot evidence is still the place I go to to see what's up in the land of my favorite subject.
Unfortunately, these days if I send friends links to this site they scroll down and see these insane comments or some of the more silly posts and lose interest in the subject. "I was reading some the comments and I'm thinking the whole thing is crazy".

By the way I use eat (way too often) at a lot of Laotian restaurants in my hometown of Lowell MA. Probably one of the only things I miss about that town. Good stuff!

By doing what you did and throwing your truth of things into the teeth of the people who are trying to discredit you, you pull their teeth and add yet another failure to their resume. It just shows no matter how much mud or shit is thrown at you, the only person covered in shit, is the thrower.
ReplyDeleteAs for protecting your family, I know first hand how worried you are. I work with some very violent, very psychotic, very very dangerous people. Some of my patients have been on tv and had books written about their crimes. My wife also works with many of the same type of very dangerous people, same state agency as I, but different facility.
We took great care to ensure that people we worked with couldn't track us down very easy and cause harm to her daughters. To ourselves, we were not that worried as we could protect ourselves. Many of our clients get released and hold grudges. When you are forced to physically restrain someone to a bed with leather straps and hold them down while another person sticks a needle in their ass, it tends to make enemies. When these people are rapists, murderers, violent assaulters, and everything in between you take precautions.
Now that her girls are grown and on own, we are still worried, but not like before. So I allowed myself to create a profile that uses part of my real name and am not hiding behind anonymous. My picture is me too.
Having been raised by two hard working parents I can't even comprehend how hard it would have been for them to raise our family in refuge camps. I understand being poor because when my Dad had his first heart attack at 39 he was unable to work. We survived by my Mom going to work and my parents selling a lot of their possessions for the two years it took for my Dad's retirement to kick in. As a young child I grew up in dairy country and my Dad had to work a job, run a trap line, sell fishing bait, and do odd jobs for farmers to make ends meet. But to not know when I may eat, if I will have a dry bed, or clean clothes each day I lived in a refuge camp is beyond my ability to understand.
You are still worried about your family. Your kids are young. With where you came from and how you have struggled to get where you are, you trust in very very few I imagine. To come out and say what you have to us means you are giving us some of that very limited trust. Thank you. It is a privilege most won't understand and some will try to exploit, but know there are those of us who understand and are honoured that you gave us some of your very limited trust in others. Your blog is great even with some of the trolls you deal with. Just hold your family firmly in your mind and you will never let them drag you down.

Your website has grown and appears to have captured a new citizenry, rather than old time BFers, inevitable as we approach proof and Finding Bigfoot a blockbuster, and I imagine your site will continue to grow, in spite of weird repetitive comments.
I was personally grateful to have found a lonely little blog a year or so ago and make use of the empty comment section!
I personally would like to see you gravitate toward more respectful and serious articles, but I did notice those never got as many comments, so I assume fewer hits too...ahhh...., feed your kids first! You have heard this from me before, and if you followed my advise you would probably still be a lonely blogger!

Shawn your family is extremely lucky to have a dedicated father, and husband like yourself. For someone to overcome so many obstacles in life and come out on top like you have is overwhelmingly admirable. So many people forget what is important in life, and it's really refreshing to see and meet people like you that have all the values in life in order.

ReplyDeleteI was in tears while reading that touching personal story -- I almost wish that you had not revealed all of that personal information about yourself, because now I feel guilty about being an anonymous troll who only visits this site to poke fun at bigfoot enthusiasts. I'm reconsidering everything about my life and why it is that I receive enjoyment from sad attempts at ridiculing earnest and honest minded believers. I realize that the only truly pathetic person in this situation is me and I will immediately take steps to remedy the situation.

I think that once people see that there are a lot more supporters then haters, that the haters are nothing more than I tick on my ass. I will keep coming to your page for that daily shot of BF news good or bad. But I think that the next step Shawn would be to get rid of Anonymous here on your site yea the haters would start using pen names but then we just pass them up as we read replies and thoughts on news of the day in the BF world.

I've been visiting daily (and often many times a day) for just a few months now, but can't imagine life without BFE. And although the comments of the trolls were initially kind of shocking to me, I've noticed that the most lasting impression I have, from this little distance of a few months, is of your unfailing good humor and generosity. The smallest whisper of kindness drowns out the loudest cry of anger and fear. I'm learning that from you. You help us on more levels than you know.

That is about to change, and fast, once the Ketchum and Sykes studies are published and made public. This site and the TV shows on the subject give a hint of the interest in bigfoot. That interest is about to absolutely explode. You're going to have a lot of company, and there's going to be a lot of choices for people to explore the facinateing subject of bigfoot, another super intelligent sapien, with many abilities that far surpass our own.
It should be interesting also to see how the trolls, and the vulgar posters respond, when the dna studies prove our bigfoot beliefs true. If it continues, I also think you should censor it and clean it up to take advantage of the exponentially larger interest by the general public that is VERY SOON to come. DeleteI know this man, and I know his family. Not through this blog. This IS his photo and he should not have to give up his and his family's privacy. Everything in his story is accurate. He works hard, is honest and is very good at what he does. Let's all just continue on and let anyone who wants to cause a problem know that they best look elsewhere. K.
